How irrational is it that the voters elected Barack Obama twice? Granted, voting for McCain (the first time Obama won) or Romney (the Republican opponent the second time Obama won) would have been only slightly less irrational. But it wasn't as if there wasn't a rational third choice. The rational voter, in my opinion, cast his or her ballot for Bob Barr in 2008 and Gary Johnson in 2012.
I now longer consider myself a member of Team Republican. I used to be, but the invasion of Iraq and the massive running up of the debt under George W put me off the party. The son of Herbert Walker was no Conservative in my book. Nor was the flip flopping moderate Romney. Only the most gullible bought his "severe Conservative" BS.
I am also not a member of Team Democrat. The only thing both parties do well is spend more money than the government takes in taxes. This is why I've been voting Libertarian. Under our current system a 3rd party candidate might not stand much of a chance, but at least I'm not a part of the problem.
Can anyone tell me what was the point of the government shutdown? Apparently it actually cost money, as opposed to saving any. And the furloughed workers were paid anyway, in addition to the extended vacation they received? No wonder the government is 16 trillion in the hole. And, in addition to not getting what they wanted, the Tea Party faction of the Republican party damaged the Republican brand. As I hear it the polls say that most Americans blame the Republicans for the shutdown. I wonder if that Cruz guy still thinks he can run for president when Obama's term expires (provided he isn't impeached, which I think is a pipe dream).
